On the night of June 17, the capital of Ukraine suffered one of the largest attacks since the start of the full-scale invasion. Russian troops launched a combined strike with kamikaze drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, concentrating their strikes on residential areas.
As the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported on Telegram, the russians fired 175 drones, more than 14 cruise missiles and at least 2 ballistic missiles at Kyiv and its environs.
“The strike was direct — on residential buildings. The missiles penetrated everything — from the upper floors to the basements,” Tkachenko noted.
The Solomianskyi and Darnytskyi Districts of the capital suffered the greatest destruction. In these areas, assistance points have been organized for the victims - in the Darnytsia Palace of Culture and in the Kostomarov Library in the Shevchenkivskyi District.
As a reminder, damage was recorded at at least 27 locations as a result of the night strike. In one of the buildings in the Solomianskyi District, a missile literally passed through all nine floors.
As of this morning, 14 deaths and over 60 injuries have been confirmed, of which over 40 are hospitalized. Five more people are considered missing. Aviation, rescue equipment and unmanned systems of the State Emergency Service have been involved in the elimination of the consequences. Rescue operations are ongoing.
