Today, the final stage of repatriation measures took place in accordance with the agreements in Istanbul. Another 1,245 bodies were returned to Ukraine, which, according to the russian side, belong to Ukrainian citizens, including military personnel. This is stated in the message of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
As reported, within the framework of the Istanbul agreements, Ukraine received a total of 6,057 bodies.

It is noted that law enforcement investigators, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will carry out all necessary examinations and identify the repatriated bodies.

"The final verification of the number of transferred bodies is underway," the Coordination Headquarters added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, during the second round of negotiations in Istanbul on June 2, russia and Ukraine agreed on a new release of prisoners and an exchange of bodies of the killed. It was previously reported that there is a preliminary agreement with the aggressor country, russia, that prisoner exchanges should become systematic in 2025.
