President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Western countries do not want to strengthen sanctions pressure on the aggressor country russia due to Ukraine's reluctance to mobilize men aged 18-24.
The head of state said this in an interview with the Hungarian publication Valasz.
"When it comes to sanctions that Western partners do not dare to impose, they point out that Ukraine does not mobilize people aged 18 and over," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, the recent operation of the Security Service of Ukraine called Spiderweb showed that it is not the number of people that is important, but weapons and technology.
Pressure and money are also no less important. Zelenskyy believes that sanctions could be aimed at the money with which russia finances the war against Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 4, MP Oleksii Honcharenko said that the parliament wants to allow voluntary mobilization for citizens over 60 years of age.
We will remind, in April of this year it became known that the bank accounts of more than 26,000 Ukrainians were blocked due to violation of mobilization rules.
We also wrote that as of the beginning of April, 8,000 former convicts became servicemen of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
