Greta Thunberg and her associates are being deported from Israel after an attempted break-through to the Gaza Strip by sea. The boat with the activists was stopped by the Israeli military, and the passengers were taken to the airport for further deportation.
This was reported by the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
The passengers were taken to Ben-Gurion International Airport, from where they will be sent to their countries of origin in the near future. Representatives of consular institutions have already met with the detainees.
The Foreign Ministry also warned that those who refuse to sign documents on voluntary return will be taken to court for forced deportation in accordance with local law.
The incident occurred after the Israeli military stopped the ship Madleen, which, according to Israeli officials, was trying to carry out a "media provocation" to draw attention to the situation in Gaza. Israel had previously said that it would not allow the ship with activists, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, to reach the Gaza Strip.
