Elon Musk's fortune decreased by USD 34 billion in a day.
The reason was his conflict with US President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reports.
Now, according to the agency's estimate, Musk's fortune is USD 334.5 billion. He still heads the list of the richest people in the world, but this is significantly less than his capital in the first months of Trump's presidency, when the estimate was approaching USD 500 billion.
The public confrontation between Musk and Trump began after the businessman left the post of head of the Department of Government Efficiency, as reported by the Ukrainian News Agency.
The President criticized Musk for his attacks on the Republican bill on tax breaks.
Trump suggested that the businessman was irritated by the cancellation of incentives for electric vehicles, and stated that Musk was aware of the content of the bill from the very beginning. In response, Musk accused the President of lying and reminded that it was he who helped Trump win the election and the Republicans gain a majority in Congress.
The skirmish continued on social media: Trump hinted at the termination of subsidies and contracts for Musk's companies, and Musk responded by accusing the President of ties to Jeffrey Epstein, without providing evidence.
After that, Musk announced that SpaceX would stop operating the Dragon spacecraft - a key means of delivering NASA astronauts to the ISS. He also stated that Trump should be impeached and replaced by Vice President JD Vance.
Tesla shares fell sharply against the backdrop of the conflict. Musk previously held the position of head of the Department of Government Efficiency, where he was invited by Trump after winning the election. He was called one of the most influential people in the White House, but after criticism of his work, he resigned in May.
Despite a recent attempt at reconciliation, the confrontation between the President and the businessman has become public and high-profile.
