Elon Musk, a former Donald Trump supporter and former White House Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has criticized the new tax and spending bill proposed by the current US President's administration.
The billionaire wrote about this on the social network X.
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” he wrote.
According to Axios, Musk criticized the bill because of the risk of increasing budget spending. Opponents of the bill emphasize that the government's forecasts do not take into account the risks associated with the instability of economic growth, which may be associated with new tax breaks.
According to forecasts, the US budget deficit in the next decade may increase to USD 2.3-5 trillion. In particular, the bill provides for new spending on strengthening border security and the army. To compensate for these costs, it is planned to reduce funding for social programs such as Medicaid, food vouchers and tax breaks in the field of green energy.
Recall that Elon Musk left the administration of US President Donald Trump after a stormy campaign to increase efficiency, but ultimately failed to achieve the desired savings.
Trump commented on the termination of Elon Musk's work in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), emphasizing that the businessman will remain close to the administration.
