The front began to use FPV drones with fiber optic cable on such a large scale that birds began to build nests using wires that were lying on the ground in large quantities.
It was reported by the 12th Azov Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
One of the brigade's servicemen discovered an abandoned bird's nest. It consists almost entirely of fiber optic.
"Birds were the first after people to use the remains of fiber optic for their own needs <...> This is just one of dozens of manifestations of how nature survives in the flames of war," the brigade's message says.
The "fiber optic" nest was found by Azov servicemen on the front line near Toretsk, Donetsk Region.

In recent months, FPV drones controlled via fiber optic cable have been actively used on the front. Such drones are usually equipped with a coil of wire that unwinds during flight.
The use of fiber optics allows the operator of an FPV drone to perform tasks despite electronic warfare (EW) equipment.
Previously, EW was actively used to jam signals, but FPV drones with fiber optics cannot be suppressed by such means.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early April of this year, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the only factory in the aggressor country, russia, that produces fiber optic cables.
Recall that the day before, the Verkhovna Rada exempted from taxes the import of fiber optic used for the production of drones.
In December 2024, the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were superior to the russian army in the "drone war", but the appearance of UAVs with fiber optics created a serious problem.
