MFA on putin's complaints about Ukrainian strikes on russia: russian strikes are acts of aggression and terror , while Ukrainian strikes are acts of self-defense

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, regarding the complaints of the leader of the aggressor country russia, vladimir putin, about Ukrainian strikes on russia, emphasizes that russian strikes are acts of aggression and terror, while Ukrainian strikes are acts of self-defense.

This is stated in the comments of the MFA, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"In response to the complaints of the Russian dictator, we emphasize that in Russia they are again confusing cause and effect, black and white... We would like to emphasize that there can be no equality between Ukrainian and Russian actions. Russia is an aggressor that carried out an illegal and unprovoked attack on our state. Ukraine is a country defending itself from aggression. Therefore, Russian strikes are by definition acts of aggression and terror, and Ukrainian ones are acts of self-defense," the message says.

The Foreign Ministry noted that the UN General Assembly officially, in a number of resolutions adopted at the 11th extraordinary special session, recognized the Russian Federation as a country committing aggression against Ukraine in violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter.

The Ministry also emphasizes that international law, in particular, Article 51 of the UN Charter, clearly provides for the inalienable right to individual or collective self-defense in the event of an armed attack on a UN member state, and no territorial restrictions on the application of such a right to self-defense have been established.

"This means that strikes on legitimate military targets in the Russian Federation are a permitted tool for defense against the aggressor, in particular, the protection of civilians from Russian missile and drone terror. It is also worth noting that the planes were vulnerable to strikes also because they were refueled and armed for another shelling of Ukrainian cities and communities, to kill our children, civilians and military personnel," the commentary says.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also notes that Ukraine strictly adheres to the norms of international humanitarian law, strikes on legitimate military targets and avoids civilian casualties, while Russia, on the contrary, strikes mostly on civilians and tries to maximize civilian casualties.

The Ministry recalled that Ukraine agreed to a full and unconditional ceasefire three months ago, while russia refuses to cease fire, continues aggression and terror, and makes ultimatums instead of effective steps towards peace.

"So Putin should stop whining about Ukrainian strikes on his planes and instead agree to at least a 30-day ceasefire, abandon unrealistic ultimatums, stop hiding from meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and start good-faith negotiations to establish a just and lasting peace. Ukraine is ready for this. Only Russia is stalling and looking for excuses to continue the war," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 4, US President Donald Trump, following a telephone conversation with putin, said that they had discussed Ukraine's attack on russian planes and that putin had told him that he would have to respond to the recent attack on airfields.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, half of the 41 aircraft of the aggressor country russia, hit by the Security Service of Ukraine during Spiderweb Operation, cannot be restored.
