In the coming days - June 7 and 8 - an exchange of prisoners of war between Ukraine and russia should take place.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a briefing, Suspilne reports.
Consultations between the russian and Ukrainian sides regarding the exchange have already taken place.
"The russian side has conveyed information that this weekend it will be able to transfer 500 of our military personnel out of the thousand we agreed on. That is, we will be ready to exchange the appropriate number on our side," Zelenskyy noted.
Ukraine has not yet received the russian list, but is waiting for it. During the previous exchange - 1,000 for 1,000 - there were no previous lists of those exchanged.
"The russians gave their word that they would give us lists of those we are exchanging in advance, this is important for us. We have not received the lists yet, there are some reasons again. We will still insist that the Ukrainian side receives the lists," the President stressed.
In addition, the previously announced exchange of bodies is to take place. There are only 15-20% of the bodies that have been identified.
"That is why we agreed that we should all prepare properly so that there is clear identification, because we are not joking with our military and our fallen. It is very important that we receive the bodies of Ukrainians, and not russians, whom they want to get rid of, because we already had an example," the President noted.
Recall that during the second round of talks in Istanbul, russia and Ukraine agreed to exchange the bodies of the killed.
