Russian propaganda tries to justify shelling of Sumy by "elimination of officers" and "air defense work" — Center for Countering Disinformation

The propaganda machine of the aggressor country russia is trying to justify the terrorist shelling of Sumy with rocket artillery, which killed and injured civilians.

It was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Currently, russian "military bloggers" and Z-channels are actively spreading fake messages that the russian army allegedly eliminated high-ranking officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the center of Sumy.

In addition, the russians claim that people on the street allegedly died as a result of the work of Ukrainian air defense.

The CCD noted that the russians are once again trying to justify the strikes on civilians by the alleged presence of military targets.

"Such informational attacks are a standard tactic of Russian propaganda to evade responsibility for war crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine," the report says.

The russian army shelled Sumy with multiple rocket launchers. The central part of the city came under fire. The strike on Sumy was carried out in the morning, when there were many civilians on the streets.
