Ukraine reaches agreement with German Diehl Defence on production of IRIS-T systems and missiles for EUR 2.2 billion - Umerov

Ukraine has reached an agreement with the German company Diehl Defence on the production of IRIS-T missile systems and missiles for EUR 2.2 billion.

The Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov announced this on his page on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"A contract has been signed with the Diehl Defence company for the production of IRIS-T systems and missiles for them. The total cost of the contract is EUR 2.2 billion," he said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in March, Umerov reported that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed a memorandum with the manufacturer of IRIS-T air defense systems, the German company Diehl Defence, which provides for a threefold increase in the supply of anti-aircraft missile systems and missiles for them.

In April, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a new defense aid package for Ukraine, which includes four Iris-T anti-aircraft missile systems and 300 missiles for the system; 30 missiles for the Patriot systems. Pistorius also noted that Ukraine will receive additional Iris-T systems in the future. In mid-December, Germany sent the sixth IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine.
