Germany provides Ukraine with sixth IRIS-T system

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced the transfer of the sixth IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine.

He stated this at a briefing after the European Council meeting in Brussels.

This corresponds to previous statements that the sixth IRIS-T SLM firing system, as well as two additional IRIS-T SLS launchers promised by Germany, will be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year.

Information about the transfer was also confirmed by the monitoring project German Aid to Ukraine on X.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced during his visit to Ukraine on December 2 that Germany had transferred to Ukraine five complete IRIS-T sets, three Patriot systems, more than 50 Gepard anti-aircraft systems with missiles, shells and spare parts to strengthen air defense, and another IRIS-T system, Patriot and Gepard installations are scheduled to be delivered in December. He also promised that in 2025 Germany will also supply air defense systems, howitzers, combat and reconnaissance drones.

In November, Ukraine received a NASAMS air defense system from Canada.
