55 members of the Verkhovna Rada propose to the parliament to allocate an additional UAH 8.6 billion from the state budget for the centralized purchase of medicines for seriously ill patients.
This is stated in draft law No. 13308, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The explanatory note notes that the state budget for 2025 provides for only UAH 11.8 billion for centralized purchases of medicines, which covers only 59.4% of the total need, estimated at UAH 19.8 billion.
The authors of the bill emphasize that due to insufficient funding, every third patient may be left without the necessary treatment.
The draft law provides for: increasing expenditures on ensuring medical measures of individual state programs and comprehensive program measures by the amount of UAH 8.6 billion.
The funds are proposed to be allocated, in particular, for medicines and medical products for the treatment and/or diagnosis of the following diseases and conditions: oncology, autism, cardiovascular diseases, viral hepatitis, HIV infection.
It is proposed to finance this increase by simultaneously reducing the Reserve Fund by the corresponding amount.
Among the authors: member of the National Health Committee Olha Stefanishyna (Holos faction), head of the Batkivshchyna faction Yuliia Tymoshenko, and head of the Social Policy Committee Halyna Tretiakova (Servant of the People faction).
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 13, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of February 12 to reduce prices for medicines.
