Germany's military support for Ukraine will be continued and expanded.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated this during a joint meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Today we talked about Germany's military support for Ukraine. I will not go into details, but I can say: our military support will be continued and expanded so that Ukraine can protect itself from Russian aggression now and in the future," he said.
Merz reported that Germany will finance the work of Starlink in Ukraine. He also announced that the defense ministers of Ukraine and Germany will sign a statement of intent today on cooperation in the production of long-range weapons.
Merz emphasized that there will be no restrictions on long-range weapons for Ukraine and Ukraine will be able to fully defend itself, as well as hit military targets outside Ukrainian territory.
"This is the beginning of a new form of military-industrial cooperation between our countries, which has very great potential," he said.
Zelenskyy, in turn, noted that today Ukraine and Germany will sign documents that will begin financing new projects.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Wednesday, May 28, Zelenskyy is on a visit to Germany.
Merz also said that Germany will do everything to ensure that the russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline never comes into operation.
