The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (Energy Commission) simplified gas transportation to Ukraine via the Trans-Balkan Corridor.
This is stated in the commission's report, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to the report, the Energy Commission adopted a decision to approve the provision by the GTS Operator of Ukraine of a joint product of transportation services together with the operators of the gas transmission systems of the Republic of Bulgaria (Bulgartransgaz), the Hellenic Republic (DESFA SA), the Republic of Moldova (VestMoldTransgaz SRL) and Romania (Transgaz SA).
This decision provides for a single auction to allocate capacities at all points of the Trans-Balkan Corridor along the natural gas transportation route from Greece to Ukraine - approximately 3 million cubic meters per day.
It is noted that such a step will help increase the attractiveness of the Ukrainian natural gas market, as well as expand opportunities for diversifying supply sources and strengthen the energy security of the region in the face of armed aggression by the russian federation.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine pumped 1.06 billion cubic meters of natural gas into Ukrainian storage facilities from April 17 to May 24, 2025, but reserves remain the lowest in 11 years.
