Over 49,000 Kyivans took shelter in metro during three nights of russian shelling

During the massive air attacks by the aggressor state of russia over three nights, from May 23 to 26, over 49,000 people took shelter in the metro stations of the capital.

The Kyiv City State Administration has reported this.

"For three nights in a row, the capital was subjected to massive combined shelling. Every night, thousands of Kyivans took shelter in metro stations. Citizens with children and pets escaped during enemy shelling. In total, more than 49,000 people were at the stations from May 23 to 26," wrote the first deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Mykola Povoroznyk, on his Facebook page.

The Kyiv City State Administration reminded that 46 underground metro stations operate in shelter mode around the clock. During an air raid, all lobbies are open without exception so that people can quickly get to a safe place.

Folding chairs, modular benches, blankets and mattresses are also available at Kyiv metro stations - to get them, you need to contact the station staff. After the alarm is over, things must be returned to the station staff or left in a corner where they will not interfere with other people.

At the same time, the Kyiv metro advises, if possible, to take warm clothes, water containers, power banks and everything necessary for a long stay in shelter, especially at night.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Monday, May 26, the aggressor country russia used the largest number of drones against Ukraine since the start of a full-scale war - 355 strike drones.
