Drones attacked russian regions at night, airports were closed in Moscow Oblast

On the night of May 23, drones attacked a number of regions of the russian federation, explosions were heard in Moscow, Tula and Ryazan Oblasts. The russian Ministry of Defense reported on the attack of May 22.

The russian department states that from 8:00 am to 08:00 pm, air defense systems shot down a total of 159 drones.

The largest number of drones were shot down over the territory of the Oryol and Kursk Oblasts - 54 and 53 drones, respectively. Also, 22 targets were shot down over the Moscow Oblast, 13 drones over the Tula Oblast, 6 over the Bryansk Oblast, 4 each over the Tver and Ryazan Oblasts, 2 over the Kaluga Oblast, and one more over the Belgorod Oblast.

Already on the night of May 23, temporary restrictions on takeoff and landing of aircraft were introduced at the airports of Moscow and the oblast Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky.

The governor of the Lipetsk Oblast Igor Artamonov said that air defense was also working over Yelets. Local publications write that a fire allegedly broke out at the Energia plant in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk Oblast, as a result of a UAV attack, and there are injured.

PJSC Energia is the largest enterprise in russia specializing in the production of chemical power sources. The plant has been operating since 1941.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the evening of May 21 and on the night of May 22, the capital of the russian federation, Moscow, and several regions of russia were attacked by drones.
