The aggressor country russia is waging a war of attrition and has the resources to continue the offensive, so Ukraine should not hope for the return of the 1991 borders.
The former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and currently the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK Valerii Zaluzhnyi stated this at the forum "Export of Security: Ukrainian Weapons in the World".
His words are quoted by RBC-Ukraine on Thursday, May 22.
Zaluzhnyi stressed that since the end of 2023, russia has been waging a war of attrition against Ukraine, the course of which will depend on the aggressor's availability of the necessary resources. According to him, Ukraine can win only if the military-economic potential of the russian federation is destroyed.
"I hope that there are no people in this hall who still hope for some miracle or wonder, for some white swan that will bring peace to Ukraine, the borders of 1991 or 2022, and after that there will be great happiness. In my personal opinion, so far the enemy has the resources, forces and means to strike at our territory and make attempts at individual offensive actions," the former Commander-in-Chief emphasized.
Ukraine can only wage a high-tech war involving a minimum of human resources and funds, Zaluzhnyi stressed. In his opinion, other conditions of resistance are impossible for the state due to the situation in the economy and demographics.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 28, Zaluzhnyi said that modern warfare has changed radically, and victory now depends on the use of innovations and the latest technologies.
Recall, on May 9, the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who is currently the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, summed up his year of work in office.
