Regarding the 1000-for-1000 exchange of prisoners of war with the russian federation, Ukraine has done its part of the preparatory work, russia should speed up. Head of the Presidential Office Andrii Yermak reported this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Regarding the 1000-for-1000 exchange, Ukraine has done its part of the preparatory work, Russia should speed up with this," he said.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the Telegram channel that he had held a meeting to prepare for the exchange. Zelenskyy noted that the agreement on the release of 1000 Ukrainian servicemen from russian captivity was perhaps the only real result of the meeting in Turkey.
The President reported that Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is overseeing the organization of the process and the implementation of the agreement, and the Ukrainian side is clarifying the details of each person listed by the russian side.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, an agreement on the exchange of 1,000 prisoners of war from the Ukrainian and russian sides was reached at talks between Ukraine and russia in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 16.
Earlier, the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that the largest prisoner exchange in the "thousand-for-thousand" format could take place this week.
