Negotiations on a ceasefire in Ukraine may take place next week in the Vatican, the situation is currently developing very well. This was announced by the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, in response to questions from journalists. His words were quoted by the Yle publication on Wednesday, May 21.
Stubb noted that representatives of Europe hope to join the discussions on a ceasefire and the possibility of establishing peace in Ukraine. In his opinion, the situation is currently "developing well."
"Negotiations at a technical level will probably continue in the Vatican next week," the President of Finland said.
The publication recalled that in a telephone conversation with European leaders on Monday, May 19, US President Donald Trump reported that russia and Ukraine would continue to discuss the possibility of concluding a ceasefire.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 19, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine and the aggressor country of russia would "immediately" begin talks on a ceasefire and an end to the war.
On May 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was discussing with its partners the next meetings with representatives of russia.
On May 21, Pope Leo XIV declared his readiness to host another round of peace talks between Ukraine and the aggressor country of russia in the Vatican.
