US intelligence believes Israel preparing strike on Iran's nuclear program facilities - CNN

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is preparing to strike Iran's nuclear program facilities. The development of the operation is parallel to the diplomatic efforts of the US presidential administration to persuade the Islamic republic to conclude a nuclear deal.

This was reported by CNN, citing unnamed American officials familiar with the latest US intelligence data.

According to CNN's interlocutors, it is not yet clear whether Israeli leaders have made a final decision. It also remains unknown how the Israeli army intends to carry out the strike.

"The likelihood of a strike has increased significantly in recent months <...> And the prospect of a deal between the US and Iran that does not provide for the complete export of all Iranian uranium makes the likelihood of a strike even greater," one of the officials said.

Two other CNN sources told CNN that US intelligence had recorded the movement of aircraft weapons and the completion of air exercises by the Israeli army.

American intelligence does not rule out that Israel is simply trying to put pressure on Iran to abandon key provisions of its nuclear program.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in March of this year, the Axios portal wrote, citing its own sources, that US President Donald Trump had sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In it, he warned that Tehran had two months to conclude a nuclear deal.

Last Thursday, May 15, Trump said that the US and Iran were close to concluding a deal. According to him, Tehran had allegedly agreed to the deal.

Recall that in October 2024, the Israel Defense Forces destroyed one of the facilities of Iran's nuclear program, where explosives used in nuclear charges were tested.
