US President Donald Trump demanded that the Iranian leadership conclude a new nuclear deal within the next two months. He also threatened Tehran with consequences if it refused.
The Axios news portal reported this with reference to its own sources.
According to Axios, the day before, Trump sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In it, Trump demanded that Khamenei conclude a new nuclear deal. An unnamed Axios source called the two-month deadline for concluding an agreement.
The portal's source noted that it remains unclear whether this refers to two months after receiving the letter or the start of possible negotiations.
The Axios source added that Trump's letter to Khamenei contained not only a demand to conclude an agreement, but also a warning of consequences.
Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates were notified of the letter's transfer.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 7, Trump announced that he had handed over a letter to the Iranian leadership with a proposal to conclude a new nuclear agreement.
As a reminder, the day before, Bloomberg reported that Trump had asked russian dictator vladimir putin to mediate in negotiations between the United States and Iran over the Iranian nuclear program.
And on March 18, Trump and putin agreed during a telephone conversation that Iran should not have the ability to destroy Israel.
