There is no decision on new military aid packages to Ukraine at the moment – US Secretary of State

The United States has not stopped supplying weapons to Ukraine, but there are currently no decisions on forming new packages.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated this. His words are quoted by the Clash Report publication on Tuesday, May 20.

"The U.S. has not stopped supplying weapons to Ukraine, but there is no decision on the possibility of forming new aid packages," Rubio emphasized.

Recall that on May 20, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Iryna Herashchenko, wrote on her Telegram channel that the military aid package of the previous US President Joe Biden is ending this summer, and that so far the US budget does not provide for new arms supplies to Ukraine.

"The Trump administration's position is clear, their bet was on quick negotiations and the end of hostilities. It seems that Plan B, that Putin simply is not going to stop the war, was not considered in Washington for some reason and came as a surprise to Trump and his team. Although it was so obvious that Putin would stall for time, demand the unrealistic, manipulate, mutter about the "root causes of the conflict", shift responsibility to Ukraine, but he will not stop," Herashchenko emphasized.

According to her, the previous US administration provided Ukraine with weapons only for survival, but not for victory over the aggressor.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in March 2025, the US presidential administration suspended all military aid to Ukraine. This happened after a public quarrel between Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The US also stopped funding new arms sales to the Ukrainian army.

As a reminder, on March 4, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, Fedir Venislavskyi, stated that without US military assistance, Ukraine's reserve of strength would last for about six months.
