Another interlocutor said that several governments have already expressed their disappointment with the results of the phone call between Trump and russian dictator vladimir putin.

Some European countries believe that Trump's position, which allows Kyiv and moscow to hold direct negotiations, essentially gives putin the opportunity to buy time.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Monday, May 19, US President Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with russian dictator vladimir putin.

According to American media, Trump had previously spoken with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Later, the Ukrainian leader confirmed this information and shared some details of the conversation.

Following the conversation with putin, the US President said that Ukraine and russia "are immediately beginning negotiations on a ceasefire."

As it became known later, Trump and putin did not discuss the timing of the ceasefire announcement during the telephone conversation.
