Since beginning of year, Defense Forces soldiers destroyed over 1,000 enemy tanks – AFU Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi

The Ukrainian military has destroyed over 1,000 tanks of the russian occupation forces since the beginning of 2025 alone.

On Saturday, May 17, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported this on his social media page.

In addition, the soldiers of the Defense Forces burned over 2,000 enemy combat vehicles during this period.

"Ukrainian soldiers continue to destroy the enemy and its equipment. Since the beginning of this year alone, the Defense Forces have hit over a thousand tanks of the invaders (1,159) and more than two and a half thousand armored combat vehicles (2,510). I thank our defenders for their professional combat work," wrote Oleksandr Syrskyi, publishing a video with the military work of the defenders of the state.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, during the day, on May 16, the defenders of Ukraine destroyed six more enemy tanks (a total of 10,831 units were eliminated), seven armored combat vehicles (22,553), 34 artillery systems (27,942), and one MLRS (1,386).
