The aggressor country russia during the negotiations in Istanbul not only demanded to be given control over four regions of Ukraine, but also threatened to seize two more regions.
The Economist correspondent Oliver Carroll wrote about this on X (Twitter).
Carroll claims that an unnamed source told him that the russians have declared their readiness for a ceasefire, but only after Ukraine withdraws troops from the territories of the four regions.
These are the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions, over which the russians do not have full control.
At the same time, during the negotiations, representatives of the russian federation threatened members of the Ukrainian delegation to seize the Kharkiv and Sumy Regions.
There was no official confirmation of this information at the time of publication of the news.
As the Ukrainian News agency reported, earlier today, the Axios portal wrote, citing its own sources, that russia proposed unrealistic demands at the talks in Istanbul.
As a reminder, the talks between the Ukrainian and russian delegations in Istanbul lasted less than two hours.
Later, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who heads the Ukrainian delegation, said that Ukraine and russia had agreed on a 1,000-for-1,000 exchange.
