On the eve of the talks in Istanbul, russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a "clown and a loser". In response, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stressed that instead of real dialogue, Moscow chooses personal insults and this is not the first time that the russian foreign ministry "becomes a laughing stock".
This was reported by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, on the social network X.
"Instead of putin coming to meet with President Zelenskyy in Turkey and having a serious conversation about ending the war and restoring peace, we hear from russia only personal insults against the Ukrainian President," the message says.
It should be noted that the spokeswoman for the foreign ministry of the aggressor state, russia, Maria Zakharova, in response to the words of the Ukrainian President about the "sham level" of the russian delegation, called him a "clown" and a "loser" with "unknown education".
Tykhyi added: "This is not the first time that the russian ministry of foreign affairs has become a laughing stock. It is also worth noting that the delegation in Turkey is not headed by the russian foreign ministry - their role is to bark from Moscow".
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously arrived in Ankara, Turkey, where he is scheduled to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and called the delegation approved by russian leader vladimir putin for negotiations with Ukraine a sham.
