"Peace in Ukraine will accelerate russia's attack on Europe" - European Commissioner for Defense

If a ceasefire or lasting peace is established in Ukraine, it will give russia the opportunity to direct its aggression in a new direction and bring a full-scale war against the European Union closer. This was stated in an interview with European Pravda by Andrius Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defense and Space, on Monday, May 12.

Kubilius noted that, according to intelligence data from several countries, including Denmark and Germany, a russian attack on the EU is possible by 2030, and some - within the next three years. According to him, the russian federation continues to produce and accumulate weapons and can no longer return the economy to civilian tracks.

"So if peace or a truce is established in Ukraine, russia will continue to produce and accumulate such a quantity of weapons that will eventually allow it to launch a new aggression. - It turns out that a long truce in Ukraine will bring a full-scale war between russia and the EU closer? - In practice, it turns out that it is," Kubilius said in a conversation with a journalist.

Establishing peace in Ukraine is very important, but even after stopping this aggression, russia will continue to prepare for a new aggression against Ukraine or the EU or NATO countries, the European Commissioner emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in January, Kubilius said that NATO and the European Union could strengthen their defense capabilities while Ukraine is fighting the aggressor country of russia.

On May 5, Kubilius said that the European Union could significantly increase military assistance to Ukraine if it starts purchasing weapons directly from Ukrainian manufacturers.
