The German government will report less in detail on the supply of weapons to Ukraine. In particular, any plans to supply Taurus cruise missiles will no longer be commented on.
German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius announced this, Tagesschau reports.
Thus, Kornelius referred to the desire of Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) to "discuss individual weapons systems less". He also added that the German government "will no longer comment" on any plans to supply Taurus cruise missiles.
Kornelius noted that other European governments are behaving in a similar way, and the Ministry of Defense cites tactical reasons for greater restraint.
According to him, information about "what weapons and ammunition we supply" should continue to flow. At the same time, the situation is different when it comes to such details as the number of certain missiles, since this information is "not so important for the public", but "the Russian aggressor can draw conclusions from it".
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in February Merz announced his intention to change Berlin's policy on supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with long-range Taurus missiles after the elections.
Meanwhile, German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius also stated that the aggressor country russia must respond to the ceasefire proposal by the end of the day, May 12, or face sanctions.
