The Committee for the Protection of Carriers and Employers in the Transport Sector of Poland announced the preparation of a new protest action at the Dorohusk-Yahodyn checkpoint on the border with Ukraine. The corresponding statement was published on the organization's Facebook page.
"We have registered a protest action at the largest border with Ukraine - Dorohusk. Disappointed by the lack of action by the Polish government, we want to restore the balance in the transport market, which was disrupted after the cancellation of permits for Ukrainian carriers," the organization said in a statement.
The exact start date and duration of the action have not yet been announced. Representatives of the Committee promised to provide up-to-date information "according to the development of the situation." The main demand of Polish freight carriers remains the restoration of the permit system for Ukrainian colleagues.
In parallel, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine announced the planned repairs on the Polish side at the Krakovets-Korczowa checkpoint. From May 8 to mid-June, asphalt paving will be laid on the lanes for trucks entering Poland and passenger transport leaving Poland, which will lead to partial closure of these sections and a reduction in throughput capacity.
Repair and reconstruction work is also ongoing on the Ukrainian side at the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine recommends that travelers choose alternative checkpoints with less traffic: Smilnytsia, Nyzhankovychi, Rava-Ruska, Hrushiv and Uhryniv.
As is known, Polish activists, including both carriers and local farmers, repeatedly blocked the Ukrainian-Polish border in 2023-2024, demanding the return of restrictions for Ukrainian drivers transporting commercial cargo to the EU.
