In some areas of the front in the Pokrovsk Axis, the Ukrainian military was able to seize the initiative and stabilize the situation.
This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
He noted the 425th separate assault regiment "Skala", which uses active defense tactics and destroys invaders.
"Thanks to the efforts of "Skala", Ukraine is not the first time restoring control over territories captured by the enemy. This was the case in 2022 in Izium, during the Kharkiv offensive operation, and this spring in the area of the village of Shevchenko near Pokrovsk," Syrskyi said.
Pokrovsk is a key city in the west of the Donetsk Region, for which battles have been going on for over a year. After the capture of Avdiyivka, the russians made this Axis their main target. Despite their offensive, Ukrainian forces managed to stop the enemy and launch counterattacks, liberating Kotlyne, Udachne and Pishchane - a total of about 16 sq km. Currently, the enemy is trying to regroup and continues to storm the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Recall that on May 5, 200 combat clashes took place at the front, the hottest areas were Pokrovsk (78 clashes), Lyman (31) and Novopavlivsk (24).
Meanwhile, on the night of May 6, the russian authorities reported a large-scale drone attack, which led to an air alert being declared in at least nine regions. According to russian officials, in particular, the drones tried to reach Moscow, where they were allegedly intercepted by the air defense system. The "Carpet" plan was introduced at a number of airports.
