Russia complains of massive drone attack, airports in Moscow and other cities closed

On the night of May 6, the russian authorities reported a large-scale drone attack, which led to an air alert being declared in at least nine regions. According to russian officials, in particular, the drones were trying to reach Moscow, where they were allegedly intercepted by an air defense system. Plan "Carpet" was introduced at a number of airports. This was reported by the russian BBC service.

Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin said that the air defense had already shot down 19 drones heading towards the russian capital. One of them, he said, was destroyed over the southern districts of the city, and its wreckage fell on the Kashirskoye Highway. It is preliminary reported that there were no injuries or serious damage.

According to the russian Defense Ministry, another 32 drones were "shot down" over the territory of the Bryansk Oblast, 22 over the Voronezh Oblast, 10 over the territory of the Penza Oblast, nine over the Kaluga Oblast, six over the Belgorod Oblast, two each over the Lipetsk and Samara Oblasts, and one each over the Vladimir, Kursk, and Rostov Oblasts.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in the occupied Crimea, there were complaints about drone attacks, explosions were heard near airfields and military units.

It was also reported that unknown drones flew to the military unit of the russian space intelligence in the Stavropol Krai.
