For US, war in Ukraine not the main threat to the world - Secretary of State Rubio

The US is focused on global challenges, and the threat from China, according to Washington, has greater strategic weight than the armed conflict in Ukraine.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with Fox News.

"There comes a point when Donald Trump must determine how much more time and resources at the highest level should be allocated to this conflict if one or both sides are not ready for a meaningful dialogue," Rubio said.

According to him, there are other, no less important or even priority threats in the world.

He emphasized that despite the significance of the war in Ukraine, in the long term it is the situation with China that poses a more serious challenge to global stability. Rubio also mentioned Iran's nuclear ambitions and other international risks.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 1, the Department of State’s spokeswoman Tammy Bruce announced that the United States no longer plans to mediate in the negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.

However, the very next day, she clarified her position on Fox News, stating: "If there is no progress, we may reconsider our participation, but that does not mean an exit. The United States and the world want peace."
