Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that only the first agreement on minerals will be ratified in the Verkhovna Rada. He said this during the “hour of questions to government”, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
“The first part of the agreement must be ratified. The following agreements will be of an implementation nature,” he said about the agreement between Ukraine and the US.
According to him, the following will be commercial or executive agreements, which will be signed directly by the Ukrainian agency and the American state company DFC (International Development Finance Corporation of the United States).
“They (the following agreements) will not require ratification, since they are implementation agreements. They (will be) within the framework of this intergovernmental agreement, which we are asking to ratify,” Shmyhal added.
The Prime Minister noted that the following agreements will only be a continuation of the main one and will work within its framework.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the United States on economic partnership and the creation of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine (minerals agreement) covers the entire territory of Ukraine, defined by the 1991 borders.
