The US Department of State has found a temporary replacement for Bridget Brink, who headed the US diplomatic mission in Kyiv. Her place will be temporarily taken by US Ambassador to Cyprus Julie Davis.
According to European Pravda, this was announced by US Department of State’s spokeswoman Tammy Bruce on May 1.
According to Bruce, Davis will become the US Chargé d'Affaires ad interim in Ukraine. This appointment was approved by US President Donald Trump and the Department of State head Marco Rubio.
She added that Davis has 30 years of diplomatic experience. Since February 2023, she has headed the US embassy in Cyprus.
The official website of the US Embassy in Ukraine has confirmed Davis' appointment.
"Ambassador Julie Davis will assume her duties as the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires ad interim to Ukraine on Monday, May 5, 2025. Ambassador Davis, on behalf of U.S. President Donald Trump and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, will coordinate the U.S. Embassy's engagement with the government and people of Ukraine," the embassy said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 21, 2025, Bridget Brink published a video summarizing her work as the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
In early April, The New York Times reported, citing its own sources, that Brink was leaving her post and resigning.
According to the Financial Times, Brink was dismissed from her position as ambassador due to her differences with the new U.S. administration.
