The Ministry of Defense has stated that the annulment of the booking of individual medical workers is not mass and concerns only the targeted replenishment of medical units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The request of the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of Health does not concern all medical workers, but only a limited number of specialists who have been trained in military-accounting specialties and are currently critically needed for replenishment of units of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - in particular, the Ground Forces," the message says.
In particular, these are the positions of:
sanitary instructors (nurses);
paramedics;
military-liable officers with training in the specialty "medical care (family doctor)", and some other specialties, who are planned to be recruited for military service under a contract for a period of 1 year.
The Ministry of Defense notes that the reason for such a request is the systemic shortage of medical personnel in medical units, after the entry into force of the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 36 dated January 14, 2025, which provides for the 100% booking of doctors, there was a threat to providing medical support to military personnel due to the lack of qualified medical personnel.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the decision to annul the booking will apply only to scarce specialties and only to those specialists who will be determined by the Ministry of Health together with the regional health departments. These employees, in accordance with current legislation, will be able to sign a fixed-term contract and take up positions in military units that currently require reinforcement.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Health previously announced that the Ministry of Defense and the Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine sent a request to annul the booking of individual medical workers, and consultations are currently being held to form lists.
In January, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed all medical workers in state and municipal institutions to be booked. In February, the Ministry of Health announced that it was working on a mechanism to annul the booking of medical workers for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
