Health Ministry developing mechanism for "de-reserving" doctors

The Ministry of Health is working on a mechanism for de-reserving doctors for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was announced by the Ministry of Health, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that recently the government allowed reserving 100% of medical workers in state and municipal health care institutions, public health institutions, institutions engaged in forensic and forensic psychiatric examinations, and blood centers, for whom work in the relevant institutions is the main place of work.

At the same time, the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the defense sector in doctors who can be mobilized from civilian medical institutions will be met through a mechanism for de-reserving individual medical workers who are currently in need.

"Today, more than 75% of wounded servicemen are being treated in civilian medical institutions. It is important for us to ensure uninterrupted provision of full medical care. Therefore, the government has decided to reserve medical workers 100%. At the same time, we understand the needs of the front. In order to cover them, we are coordinating with the Ministry of Defense and the Medical Forces Command. Decisions to de-reserve medical workers should be made taking into account the real needs for specialists of a particular profile. It is important to maintain a balance so that the medical system works effectively for both the front and the rear," said Minister of Health Viktor Liashko.

The Ministry of Health notes that the "de-reservation" of medical workers will take place at the request of the Ministry of Defense and the Medical Forces Command regarding the needs for certain medical specialists.

Further, the Ministry of Health, in coordination with the health departments, will hold relevant consultations and form lists of necessary medical workers.

It is noted that the process will be organized in such a way as to ensure the proper functioning of civilian medical institutions.

The heads of medical institutions will submit applications for de-reservation through the Diia portal, in accordance with the procedure for reservation military conscripts for the period of mobilization and for wartime.

After de-reservation, specialists will be mobilized to the Armed Forces or other military formations, according to their needs, with an appointment to medical positions in military service. Upon mobilization, contracts will be concluded for a period of 1 year.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in January, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed all doctors of state and municipal institutions and prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office to be reserved.

The Ministry of Health explained how private doctors can receive a reservation from mobilization.
