North Korea responsible for continuation of russia's war in Ukraine - US Department of State

After North Korea acknowledged the provision of its troops to the aggressor state of russia, the US Department of State stressed that third countries, including the DPRK, contributed to the "continuation" of the russian-Ukrainian war and "bear responsibility for it."

This was reported by Yonhap News with reference to a representative of the US Department of State.

"Third countries, such as the DPRK, which contributed to the continuation of the russian-Ukrainian war, bear responsibility," he said.

The US Department of State also repeated calls for Pyongyang to stop the deployment of its troops, and for russia to stop any support for the North.

"We continue to be concerned about the direct participation of the DPRK in the war. The deployment of the DPRK military contingent in russia and any support that the russian federation provides to the DPRK in response must be stopped," the official representative added.

He also noted that russia's training of North Korean soldiers violates numerous UN Security Council resolutions, which collectively impose a broad ban on providing or receiving military training or assistance to or from the DPRK.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, russia has publicly acknowledged for the first time the participation of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine. They are fighting against the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk Oblast.

North Korea has also confirmed the participation of North Korean troops in hostilities against Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast of russia.
