Russia has for the first time publicly acknowledged the participation of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine. They are fighting against the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk Oblast.
The Chief of the russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov, has stated this, as quoted by russian media.
Gerasimov praised the DPRK troops during a report to russian dictator vladimir putin on the alleged completion of the operation in the Kursk Oblast. He stated that the North Korean forces "acting side by side with the Russian military in the Kursk Oblast, showed resilience and heroism".
The representative of the russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that "Russia will never forget its friends from the DPRK".
Gerasimov stated during a report to putin that russian troops allegedly pushed Ukrainian forces out of the Kursk Oblast.
The Chief of the russian General Staff assured putin that the russian army had "liberated" the last settlement in the Kursk Oblast, the village of Gornal. Gerasimov also stated that the russian military was allegedly creating a "security zone" in the Sumy Region.
However, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fighting in the Kursk Region continues.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, over the past day, Ukrainian defenders have stopped 30 assault operations by the invaders in the Kursk Oblast.
