Former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych is currently in the Moscow Oblast of the russian federation, Deputy Head of the Maidan Affairs Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine Denys Ivanov stated, Interfax reports.
"According to our information, he is in the Moscow Oblast: the village of Barvikha, Odintsovo district," he told reporters after the verdict was announced for the ex-president and ex-deputy head of the Department of State Security of Ukraine Kostiantyn Kobzar.
As Ivanov reported, Kobzar lives in Moscow.
The Podilskyi District Court of Kyiv sentenced former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and ex-deputy head of the Department of State Security of Ukraine Kostiantyn Kobzar to 15 and 10 years in prison, respectively.
Yanukovych was found guilty of organizing the illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine and incitement to desertion (Part 2 of Article 332, Part 4 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); Kobzar - of organizing the illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine and desertion (Part 2 of Article 332, Part 2 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Yanukovych's mistress Liubov Polezhai is expanding her business in the russian federation - she founded a cafe and a farm.
The court seized UAH 31 million, USD 85,000 and cultural values worth EUR 19 million from former president Viktor Yanukovych, his wife Liudmyla and mistress Liubov Polezhai.
