Ukraine and russia continued hostilities during "Easter truce" – spokesman for UN Secretary-General

Both sides continued hostilities during the "Easter truce" declared for 30 hours between Ukraine and the aggressor country russia.

The official representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres, Stéphane Dujarric, has stated this. His words are quoted by Ukrinform on Monday, April 21.

Dujarric noted that despite the declared truce, hostilities continued.

"We took note of the announcement of a ceasefire, and also took note that both sides continued hostilities," said the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General.

According to him, the UN wants the war to end "in accordance with UN resolutions, international law and the territorial integrity of Ukraine." Russia's invasion must be put to an end, Dujarric stressed.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 19, russian dictator vladimir putin declared an “Easter truce,” which supposedly involves a halt to all hostilities in Ukraine from the evening of April 19 to midnight on April 21.

On April 20, putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the russian dictator had not given the order to extend the “Easter truce.”

On April 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on April 23, representatives of Ukraine, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States would hold talks on a ceasefire.
