Cabinet dismisses First Deputy Defense Minister Havryluk

The Cabinet of Ministers has dismissed First Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Havryluk.

This is stated in a government message on Telegram, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"At its meeting on April 18, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted an order to dismiss Ivan Yuriiovych Havryluk from the post of First Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine," the message says.

Earlier, journalist and member of the Public Anti-Corruption Council (PARC) under the Ministry of Defense Tetiana Nikolaienko claimed that Havryluk may resign due to a conflict with Minister Rustem Umerov.

At the same time, Umerov reported on Facebook that Havryluk remains part of the team, he promised to announce his new area of responsibility in the near future.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Havryluk Deputy Defense Minister in October 2023. Then the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov introduced Havryluk as Deputy Minister for Military-Technical Policy and named his most important tasks in the new position – the development of weapons and military equipment of the Defense Forces, the re-profiling of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex to the NATO nomenclature, and close cooperation with partner countries.

In May 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers promoted Havryluk to First Deputy Minister of Defense.
