Journalist Makarov, who was attacked with knife in Kyiv, gave his first statements to police - Klymenko

The National Police is conducting the necessary investigative actions to establish the identity and motives of the attacker, who attacked the executive producer of Suspilne Yurii Makarov in Kyiv the day before. The journalist gave his first statements to law enforcement officers. This was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.

"The leadership of the National Police reported to me about the progress of the investigation into the attack on the journalist in Kyiv. Investigative actions are ongoing, examinations have been ordered, we are establishing the identity of the attacker and the probable motives of the perpetrator. The victim has already given his first statements to the police," Klymenko wrote in his Telegram channel.

The minister also called on anyone with any information about this attack to contact the Kyiv police at 067 406 27 88 or on line 102.

"I am personally monitoring the process of uncovering and investigating this audacious crime," the Minister of Internal Affairs concluded.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the evening of April 16, an unknown person attacked journalist Yurii Makarov with a knife in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv. The man was taken to the hospital with a knife wound.

The attacker fled, and they are looking for him. The knife he used to carry out the attack was found.
