Ukraine becomes even closer to single roaming area with EU

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted in the second reading bill No. 12150, which brings the Ukrainian telecommunications market closer to European standards and expands the powers of the national telecom regulator - National Commission for the State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum and the Provision of Postal Services (NCEC).

Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

“We are taking the last step to join the single roaming area with the EU - the Parliament has adopted bill No. 12150,” Fedorov wrote.

The report states that the bill will allow Ukrainian and European telecommunications operators to more easily exchange services and work together.

It is noted that the adoption of the bill is the last step before negotiations with the EU on joining the Roam like at home policy.

The minister added that thanks to Roam like at home, Ukrainians will be able to use their operator's tariffs even after the end of martial law and not pay additional fees for mobile communications and the Internet in the territory of 27 EU countries.

Fedorov called the signing of the law by the President the next step.

"Next, we will begin negotiations with the European Commission on the creation of a Single Roaming Zone," Fedorov added.
