Rada calls on EU to review tariff conditions for Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada calls on the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the parliaments and governments of the European Union member states to immediately begin and make the negotiation process on amending the annexes to the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU as effective as possible.

A total of 252 MPs voted for draft resolution No. 13143, with a minimum of 226, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The Ukrainian Parliament calls on partners to immediately begin and make the negotiation process on amending the annexes to the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU as regards mutual tariff concessions on imports of goods on the basis of Article 29 of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, taking into account the indicators of mutual trade in recent years.

At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada calls for the urgent adoption of a decision by the Ukraine-EU Association Committee in trade format in order to legally consolidate the agreements reached and fulfill all administrative formalities related to the movement of goods in the context of enhanced trade liberalization, ensuring the stability and predictability of trade relations between Ukraine and the EU.

The partners are called upon to maximally promote mutually beneficial economic cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in order to strengthen the capabilities and potentials of both sides, especially against the backdrop of a full-scale war and the further needs for raw materials, resources and production strengthening of Europe against the backdrop of possible security threats in the future.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Senator Elizabeth Warren, representing Massachusetts, sharply criticized the tariff policy of US President Donald Trump after the White House announced the exemption of smartphones, computers and microcircuits from large-scale duties imposed on most trading partners.
