Wounded servicemen receive UAH 650 instead of UAH 20,000 – this is illegal and wrong – Vereshchuk

Wounded servicemen who were taken out of state for treatment do not receive full financial support.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Vereshchuk announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency.

In particular, Vereshchuk reported that during an on-site meeting in one of the military hospitals, problematic issues were identified that concern wounded servicemen who are undergoing treatment.

"It often happens that wounded servicemen who were taken out of state for treatment do not receive full financial support. That is, they receive UAH 650 instead of at least UAH 20,100. This is illegal and wrong," she noted.

Vereshchuk called on the Ministry of Defense to issue appropriate departmental clarifications regarding compliance with the Law "On Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Members of Their Families".

The deputy head of the OP also noted that military units require servicemen to provide certificates of treatment in a healthcare facility every 10 days.

"This is wrong. Healthcare facilities and military units should exchange this data themselves without the participation of the wounded serviceman. All legal and technical conditions for this exist," she stressed.

Vereshchuk called on the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Command of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Health to issue additional departmental clarifications on this issue.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, in June 2023, the Verkhovna Rada, after a lengthy discussion, adopted a law on additional payments to military personnel.

In September 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers established an additional payment of UAH 20,100 for wounded servicemen who are recognized as temporarily unfit for military service and placed at the disposal of commanders.
