Today, April 13, russian units of the 112th and 448th missile brigades attacked Sumy with two ballistic missiles of the Iskander-M/KN-23 type, killing, as currently established, 32 people.
This was reported by the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov.
"It is already known that the criminal strike on Sumy with two ballistic missiles of the Iskander-M/KN-23 type was carried out by russian units of the 112th and 448th missile brigades from the territory of the Voronezh (Liski settlement) and Kursk (Lezhenki) Oblasts of the aggressor state, respectively," the report says.
He stressed that the common cause of Ukrainian forces is to ensure retribution for every war criminal - from those who gave orders to those who launched missiles.
"Another war crime of russia is the ballistic missile strike on Sumy, the killing of Ukrainian civilians. Many people went to churches on Palm Sunday, some were returning home from church services. Another proof of the godlessness of the disgusting, cursed Moscow," Budanov said and expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 13, russian occupiers struck the center of Sumy, using cluster munitions and killing many people. In particular, a trolleybus was attacked - almost all passengers were killed. At that time, people were returning from church, since today is the Christian holiday of Palm Sunday.
As of 2:10 pm, the death toll in Sumy from the russian attack with two ballistic missiles has risen to 32.
US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to Ukraine and russia, Keith Kellogg, said that the russian attack on Sumy on April 13 "crosses any line of decency."
