On April 13, the russian occupiers struck the center of the city of Sumy, killing many people. In particular, a trolleybus was attacked - almost all passengers were killed. At that time, people were returning from church, since today is the Christian holiday of Palm Sunday.
This was said by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artiukh, on the air of a telethon.
"A means of cluster munitions was used, that is, a missile. We see the walls here cut by the corresponding striking elements. We see where the most people were killed - this is the trolleybus, in which people were and almost everyone who was there were killed," Artiukh said.
He called the mentioned public transport the "trolleybus of death": "Unfortunately, there were a lot of people there, children."
"The evacuation of bodies is underway. Unfortunately, people were just returning from church here. Today is a big holiday, people were returning and there were a lot of people here. It came here, this weapon exploded in the air," the head of the Regional Military Administration explained.
The buildings of Sumy State University were also hit. According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, all the rubble was examined and dismantled.
According to him, there is no damage to residential buildings. At the same time, the glazing and doors were damaged. This is being described and assistance is being provided to people.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that as a result of the ballistic missile strike in Sumy, the number of killed has increased to 31 people, including two children. He stressed that russian dictator vladimir putin is ignoring the US proposal for a ceasefire, and the russian federation continues to kill Ukrainians.
