The Ukrainian editorial office of Radio Liberty is forced to reduce broadcasting due to financial problems caused by a reduction in funding for media activities by the US government.
This is evidenced by a message on the Radio Liberty website.
Radio Liberty said that the last episode of the Freedom.Morning stream aired on April 11. It was broadcast on the YouTube channel and the Espreso TV channel for more than two years.
According to Espreso, this project had one of the highest ratings in the channel's program.
Financial challenges are forcing the media to lay off employees in Kyiv and Lviv. This will happen on April 14.
"This is a forced step at a time when Radio Liberty is fighting for the right to receive funding from the US Congress in American courts," the director of the Ukrainian editorial office, Maryana Drach, is quoted as saying.
She added that from April 1, some media employees in Prague who worked in various language services went on partially paid leave.
In addition, due to funding problems, Radio Liberty significantly reduced cooperation with freelancers.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 19 it became known that Radio Liberty had sued the US government over the termination of funding.
And on March 26, an American court banned the US presidential administration from closing Radio Liberty.
