The President of the United States of America Donald Trump is going to introduce a new package of sanctions against the aggressor country russia, if there is no ceasefire by the end of April.
It was reported by the Axios publication on Friday, April 11, citing its own source.
According to the publication, Trump is very disappointed with the lack of significant progress in the negotiations in recent weeks. According to him, he was “furious” by the statements of the russian dictator putin regarding Ukraine.
“If no ceasefire is reached by the end of the month, Trump could move forward with additional sanctions on Russia either through executive power or by asking Congress to pass new sanctions legislation,” a source familiar with the issue told Axios.
At the same time, the US President’s special representative Steve Witkoff is already in russia and is expected to meet with putin today. This will be the third meeting between Witkoff and putin as Trump insists on a ceasefire in russia's war against Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States of Ukraine may impose additional sanctions on the aggressor country russia to force it to cease fire.
On April 4, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that russia had violated the terms of the ceasefire.
Recall that on April 2, US President's Special Envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg said that Ukraine and russia are on the verge of a comprehensive ceasefire.
